University of Lagos

The University of Lagos, popularly known as UNILAG, is a public research university located in Lagos, Nigeria and was founded in 1962. UNILAG is one of the first-generation universities in Nigeria and is ranked among the top universities in the world in major education publications. The vision of the Faculty of Pharmacy University of Lagos is to be a world class Pharmacy Educational establishment for the Training of Top-Class Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists at undergraduate and postgraduate levels through learning and research as well as in character and service to humanity. The Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy University of Lagos, staffed with seasoned academics who have been trained both locally and internationally, has a pilot production lab and is developing a GMP facility in conjunction with the Population Council. Via USAID’s MATRIX, the collaboration between the University of Lagos and Population council is targeting enhancement of local manufacturing capacity in Nigeria for vaginal product inserts for use in HIV prevention.
