CaSE at a Glance

About the program

The CaSE (Capacity Strengthening and Engagement) Fellowship Program is a part of a coalition of partners within MATRIX and is working to cultivate a self-sustaining network of African research leaders in HIV prevention research by supporting capacity strengthening in mid-level and early career scientists.

The overall goal of the CaSE program is to enhance capacity and technical skills of local scientists and institutions in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) in alignment with technical and strategic areas prioritized by MATRIX.  Leveraging strategic learning, training and mentorship opportunities within and external to the MATRIX Collaborative, CaSE will use a competitive application and selection process to identify and support candidates.

CaSE is comprised of three tracks:

  • Track 1: MATRIX e-Learning Scholars Program
  • Track 2: MATRIX Hub Scholars Program
  • Track 3: MATRIX Fellowship Program

For information about each track you can explore more at What is a Fellow?

Candidates will access opportunities for skill development and training paired, where possible, with experiential hands-on-training, mentorship for co- and lead authorship on scientific papers, contributions to grant proposals, and other opportunities to enhance their leadership skills and expertise.
