Dr. Lilishia Gounder

Dr. Lilishia Gounder is a South African clinical virologist and an emerging researcher whose interests include HIV drug resistance, geospatial analysis, and data science. She is currently in the 2nd year of her PhD training with a focus on monitoring and analysis of HIV drug resistance in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, which is the epicentre of the HIV pandemic. Apart from her research, she is involved in youth development and church outreach programmes to previously disadvantaged communities. In addition to serving her community and her work as a pathologist, Dr. Gounder is also a wife and a mom to 3 kids and her fur-baby, Spot. She enjoys cooking, reading and art appreciation, which she still tries to include in her daily schedule. “Wherever you are, be all there!
